John Aled Griffiths OBE
1930-2025
Our beloved father, John Aled Griffiths OBE, passed away peacefully at his home, Besford House Farm, on Wednesday, 6th August 2025.
He was surrounded by the love of his family and carers and the sound of Welsh Male Voice Choirs singing his favourite songs in the background.
His fortitude and resilience, together with his indomitable spirit, were with him until his last breath.
The Griffiths Family will never be the same without him at the helm, but his legacy will live on through his children, Gareth, Elwyn and Lyn, his grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Andrew, Grace and Gwyn Aled, and his soon to be born great grandson.
His loss is also felt very deeply by his brother, Bryn and his partner, Jean, together with Gillian, Sally, Norman, Hannah and Megan.
We are all extremely grateful to Dad’s wonderful carer, David, together with Jayden, Clare and Tracy, for their love and care for our father, ensuring he continued to live a full and active social life right up until the end.
He had celebrated his 95th birthday on 23rd June with 170 guests at Hawkstone Hall and Gardens and he went on to attend many other events, including his annual pilgrimage to The Royal Welsh Show on 22nd July.
The funeral will take place at 11.30 on Friday, 19th September 2025, at St Luke’s Church, Hodnet, TF9 3NL, followed by a private family committal at St Bartholomew’s Church, Moreton Corbet, and a Reception at Hawkstone Hall and Gardens, Weston, SY4 5UZ, to which you are all invited.
